Outstanding house for a family celebration
A wonderful week spent at the Manor celebrating my partners 70th birthday, 19 of us from age 5 - 70! The six grandchildren, when not having fun in the games room, loved playing hide & seek for hours in the rambling house. The kitchen, which was incredibly well stocked, soon became the focus of the house with its huge table to seat all the adults with the grandchildren preferring to have their meals around the large table in the conservatory just off the kitchen. The main lounge was superb for entertaining, after having a fabulous lunch at The Cow on NYE we then celebrated in the lounge, bags room for dancing and plenty of sofas for all! On New Years Day evening we celebrated my partners birthday having a formal dinner in the lovely dining room with its huge table. Don't forget to take a stroll to the chicken coup each morning to collect eggs for breakfast!
There are many fantastic walks to go on around the Manor... also take a drive to Alum Bay to take a walk to The Needles which is a must for the views! Compton Bay was great for the surfers and paddle boarders in our group, and a great game of golf was played on the Freshwater Bay golf course. There are many other places to visit on the island, the Garlic Farm definitely being one of them!
We really couldn't have chosen a better place for our celebrations, the staff in the Tapnell office are second to none, nothing is too much for them... they even left us a wonderful hamper of scrumptious goodies. Our grandchildren made good use of the adventure barn at the farm and there is a new Aqua park opening in the Spring.
The Cow restaurant on the farm is a must to visit, just a two minute walk from the house, the food is amazing and the staff very friendly and helpful.
