Tapnell Trail Wildlife Walk

The Tapnell Trail is a popular 6-mile circular walking route, that runs right through the middle of Tapnell Farm.

The trail leads up onto the downs, for spectacular views over the 1970 Isle of Wight Festival site, and the south coast of the Island.

Stunning views

Tapnell Trail has been developed by ramblers to suit walkers of all abilities so both kids and adults will be able to manage the meandering route with stunning views. Stretching 6.5 miles, the walk is circular and can be started at any point.

Enjoy the Wildlife along the way

The walk is mostly flat, with no stiles or steps, but you will pass through a couple of gates and may come across some muddy ground, so wear wellies if you can. It’s perfect for all ages and abilities, so makes a great family walk, with plenty of wildlife along the way.

Start at Tapnell Farm. You’ll head in the direction of The Causeway and down towards Freshwater Bay, before looping back on yourself in the direction of Wellow Down, until you return to where you started.
