You don't have to go far to soak up our favourite views – after all, they're right here at Tapnell Farm. Our elevated position offers panoramic vistas of Afton Down and Tennyson Down, as well as sea views stretching across the English Channel to the mainland. It really is the most scenic spot on the Isle of Wight, even if we do say so ourselves.

Around the Island
For those who want a whistle-stop tour of our favourite views, the Tapnell Trail awaits. This fairly gentle, six-mile walking route takes you from the centre of Tapnell Farm, crests Compton Down, then winds back beside the River Yar. Along the way, you'll enjoy spectacular views of the south coast – as well as the opportunity to stop at some of the Island's best pubs.
Yarmouth
A well-maintained footpath follows the old railway line along one side of the estuary, offering an easy and rewarding walk between the towns of Freshwater and Yarmouth. With its mix of open water, tranquil countryside, and abundant wildlife, the Yar Estuary is a serene and inspiring corner of the Isle of Wight that invites exploration at a gentle pace.
Totland Bay
The Waterfront certainly lives up to its name. This bar/restaurant occupies a privileged spot on the promenade by Totland Bay, only a few steps from sand and sea. It's the perfect place to catch a seaside sunset, perhaps with a glass of wine in hand and a helping of fresh Island seafood. Or, by day, to sip a local ale and watch the boats bobbing to the gentle rhythm of the waves.
