Blackgang Chine has a long history. In fact, it's the oldest amusement park in the UK, having opened in 1843 as a park resort for Victorian holidaymakers. Today, the focus is on family fun, including classic fairground rides and magical themed worlds. It still retains some of its original features, though, including a real whale skeleton that washed up near The Needles in 1842.

  Great day out

Lovely place with so much to do for the kids nice to get them outdoors having fun away from screens! A lot of it is under cover so great to go even if the weather isn’t great

  Superb day out!

We had such a lovely time at Tapnell farm today.
It has so much for the nippers to do.
The highlight was the animals encounters. The young lady who ran the activities ( wallaby feeding and guinea pigs) was very knowledgable and was lovely with the children. They can’t wait to come back!!

  A fantastic day

We visited the end of March and had a lovely full active day, I’m 62, my friend is 75 and my 18 year old daughter had so much fun, trying out all the activities, seeing, petting and feeding the animals. Because of the time of year there was no queuing for anything but I can image it gets very busy during peak season so I would expect a lot of queuing which I’m sure would impact he enjoyment of the day. There is so much to do at Tapnell, animals, giant inflatable pillows, climbing, sliding, trampolines, go karts, coasters the list is endless and it was refreshing to find that every single activity was included in the price, no added extras to add onto the cost of the day. We used the coffee shop which was reasonably priced too. I would definitely recommend a visit.

Perfect wedding at an incredible venue

We are so glad we decided to get married at East Afton. The organisation from Chloe and the team was perfect from start to finish. Most of our guests were able to stay with us at the venue over the wedding period which meant we got to spend lots of quality time with them, and we couldn’t have asked for a more wonderful setting. We would not hesitate to recommend getting married here!

Bethany & Emily
  Our perfect day

We can't thank Chloe and all the staff at East Afton enough for their support, hospitality & professionalism. The venue is spectacular, all the finer details were executed exactly as we had been planning with Chloe for 18 months, and we truly can't fault anything at all. Kev prepared a gorgeous meal & evening buffet, the staff were professional & friendly, the recommendations for band & DJ couldn't have been more right for us. We had the most amazing & perfect day, memories that we will cherish for the rest of our lives. Thank you again & hope that we can come back for an anniversary or two!

Couldn't wish for a better wedding venue

Everything at East Afton farmhouse was absolutely perfect - we really couldn't have wished for a better location for our wedding. Having use of the venue and all of the facilities in the days leading up to the wedding was so ideal and meant that we could enjoy time together before the big day and get everything ready ahead of time. The farmhouse and all of the facilities are fab - our wedding was the first in the brand new events barn and it is simply stunning! We couldn't recommend this venue more highly!

Gina & Matt
  Perfect venue

Honestly couldn’t recommend it enough, it’s worth every penny! The accommodation is beautiful and all the rooms are so well finished and comfortable. The house has everything in it you could need and the barns are just beautiful. It’s the perfect location for a wedding and all in one place. So many of our guests complimented it and everyone had an amazing time. The best part is the staff, Chloe and the team were so responsive and helpful from the start and we can’t thank them enough for helping to make our day perfect.

Jess & Will
  The most perfect wedding venue

East Afton Farmhouse really did give us the best day of our lives. Both me and my partner we're completely overwhelmed with how beautiful the venue was, as we're our guests! The staff here we're more than helpful and really support you as a couple to help bring your visions to life and facilitate as best as they can your wishes/ideas. We can't think of a single thing that we would change about our experience, from the planning of the wedding to the actual day, it was all perfect!

We are 100% over the moon..

...with the whole experience, we stayed for the 4 nights in the Farmhouse and had our wedding reception in the 2 barns and its was all out of this world! It is super stunning but the best part is how unbelievably helpful the Managers Chloe and Mel are and how great ALL the staff were. I felt very reassured of a smooth run on the day and no ask was too much trouble. Highly recommend.

  An absolutely beautiful venue

  Little Lodge

Brilliant place to stay with the family and dog.

  By far the best

We've been to a number of waterparks over the years but this was by far the best. Easy to book, well organised, changing (communal as well as separate), showers great safety, food and drinks available, reasonably priced and a huge range of activities for different age-range kids. Whoever came up with this place thought of everything!

  A must

The Cow Restaurant is a must. Delicious food.

TripAdvisor  |  08 / 2024
  It was just that good

We ate at The Cow, and I honestly can’t exaggerate enough how good the food was. Steak on the first night, Caesar salad for lunch the next day – both absolutely delicious, perfectly priced, and easily on par with the best restaurants and pubs back home. We ended up eating there twice because it was just that good.

Great venue for a weekend break

Booked a long weekend break for the whole family + dog as a surprise 70th birthday treat for my wife. We thoroughly enjoyed it, the cabin style accommodation was really nice and for a group of 6 adults, 2 toddlers and a dog it did not seem cramped at all. The on site attractions were just right for the kiddies and we didn't have to go off site for anything, plenty to see and do. Heartily recommend it for people of all ages.

  Luxury Family Glamping

We stayed 4 nights in the dome meadow in the most beautiful dome tent. On arrival the accommodation was spotless and so well presented with everything we needed for our stay. The dome was heated with a Dyson heater so we had a lovely warm welcome. The fridge was stocked with fresh milk and cold water, the fires were ready to be lit and all our beds were being warmed by electric blankets ready for the evening. The farm park was a 5 minute walk across the field, past the lambs and llama!! I have already recommended our stay to friends and we hope to be returning soon!!

  Fantastic day out for kids/family

Loads to do both indoors and out! A lovely coffee/cake selection including GF options!!

Sandwiches and meals available as well although we took a packed lunch which we could eat either outside or in the huge barn area (which includes a play area/go kart track!)

  Absolutely impeccable stay!

I stayed in the module log cabin and everything was perfect — exactly as described on the booking website. The place was also very dog friendly, which made the trip even better. I just have to make a special mention of how impressive the fridge was in the accommodation — it really exceeded expectations. Highly recommend!

An amazing time had by all

Christmas 2025 Tapnell farm was a magical experience. They really exceeded expectations this year. Great value for money. Great activities,  my granddaughter age 8, really believed she was in the Northpole, and when the snow came down it brought such joy to my granddaughter. Santa and Mrs clauses were the best. The elfs were fun and helpful.

Well done Tapnell farm

A great day out for kids of all ages

We only spent the afternoon here and with only one 5 year old that was fine. But with more kids or older ones I think you could easily spend the whole day here.

Wendy  |  11 / 2025
  Loved it here!

So much to do for the kids. Football golf was a huge success with my footie crazy boys. The animal park was great, we especially loved feeding the wallabies.
