My Perfect Day at Tapnell Farm and the Isle of Wight
If you’re looking for a family holiday on the Isle of Wight that combines countryside, adventure, beaches and plenty of time to relax, Tapnell Farm is a pretty hard place to beat.
Slow Start in nature
For me, the perfect day would start pretty slowly.
We’d wake up in one of the Modulogs at Tom’s Eco Lodge, throw open the doors and, if the weather was good, have breakfast outside. Bacon and eggs from our own chickens would be cooking on the electric BBQ, coffee in hand, while Rapha and Lola pottered around outside. No rushing, no plans – just a slow start to the day.
Back to Tapnell for the afternoon
The afternoon could go one of two ways. If everyone still had plenty of energy, we might head to the Aqua Park, play some padel or pickleball, or take the kids back into the Farm Park for another go on whatever they’d enjoyed most that morning.
There are plenty of family activities at Tapnell Farm, so you can easily fill a whole day without needing to leave. Equally, we might just head back to the Modulog and do absolutely nothing for a while.
And I think that’s one of the best things about staying at Tapnell.
There’s loads to do, but you never feel like you have to be doing something all the time. The kids can be entertained, the adults can relax, and you’re not spending half the day in the car travelling between attractions.
An evening at The Cow
In the early evening, we’d head down to the Red Lion for a proper traditional ale before walking back across the farm to The Cow for dinner.
We’d have a burger and a couple of drinks while the kids tucked into something and, hopefully, disappeared off to play outside on the lawn or in the clubhouse.
Then, if we were lucky, we’d get one of those incredible West Wight sunsets.
We could sit outside, watch the sun go down, see the animals grazing peacefully in the fields and do a bit of bird spotting as everything starts to quieten down for the evening.
After that, we’d wander back across the farm to our Modulog and finish the day in the hot tub, looking up at the stars.
That would be a pretty perfect day for me.
