Originally opened in the summer of 2015, The Cow Co Restaurant and Bar is now one of the most popular places to eat on the Isle of Wight. Their vibrant rustic restaurant offers diners a wide choice of both meat and vegetarian options, for breakfasts, lunches and evening meals; with sumptuous steaks, brilliant burgers, specialist cheeses, the finest local ice creams, and a regular rotation of seasonal specials.
RESTAURANT & BAR
The Restaurant and Bar is housed in a large converted Swiss barn, right at the centre of Tapnell Farm, with a mezzanine seating level offering stunning views up to the historic Tennyson Down. The fully licensed Bar serves local ales, other alcoholic drinks, specialist coffees and teas, and a variety of refreshments throughout the day. They also offer a simplified bar menu, which is served on a first come, first served basis – so if you haven’t booked a table in the restaurant, you can still grab a bite to eat.
*Please note the restaurant gets very busy at weekends, and during school holidays, therefore we recommend booking ahead to avoid disappointment. For groups of 6+ pre-booking is essential. Call the Restaurant team on 01983 758725 to book.
Visitors to the Farm Park can also enjoy lunch in the Restaurant, with the new gift shop offering fast access between the two. Our staff are happy to book you a table or check availability – just ask at the front desk. Alternatively the Farm Park has its own well stocked cafe, which is open 10 til 5 every day serving a similar range of delicious teas and coffees, and hot and cold food and snacks.
A variety of events are hosted at the venue, and upstairs at The Loft – with everything from Live Music and Beer Festivals, to Yoga and well-being weekends. The Restaurant and Bar have regular live music evenings, with acoustic performances from some of the Isle of Wight’s best local musicians. Every few months they also hold the infamous Tapnell “Tap N’ Ale” party nights, with DJs, live bands and more, carrying on until late in the evening – these events are usually sell outs, so worth keeping an eye out for.
The venue is available for hire! From weddings, conferences, parties, meetings and other events, there are a number of flexible spaces to suit your requirements. Check out the Venue Hire page for more info.
We currently have an exhibition of Isle of Wight Festival photos and memorabilia taking place in the Gallery next door to The Cow Co. “Isle of Wight Festival – Then and Now” celebrates the original festivals, which were held in 1968 to 1970, and the modern festivals 2002 to now. The legendary 1970 festival was held on one of our farm’s fields, at East Afton, making this exhibition extra special for Tapnell.
